I was born in Neenah, Wisconsin, at Theda Clark Regional Medical Center (Dr. C. Hammond M.D.) on April 28, 1981 at 10:40 pm. My birth mother was only 18 when she had me, and already had a 1 year old son. In December 2013 I finally began searching for my birth family, and met them a few short months later. I found out I also have a half sister and two half brothers. I was adopted on June 18, 1981, through Children's Service Society of Wisconsin, by a wonderful family who I love very much. I grew up with them and my adoptive brother (who is their biological son) in Merrill, WI. I went to pre-school at Parkside and elementary at Jefferson. When I was 7 we moved to Columbus, Georgia because my dad got a job at AFLAC. I graduated on May 29th, 1999 from Pacelli Catholic High School. I then entered my freshman year at Columbus State University, majoring in Psychology. One of my goals in life was and is to be a Psychologist. After my freshman year, I decided to transfer to Columbus Technical College to study Computer Science. As soon as their Web Design program began, I enrolled in it so I could fulfill what I thought was my destiny. I wanted to run my own Web Design business. However, in 2002, I had another change in major, to the Business Education department. As of September, 2006 I am 3 courses short of graduation.
When I lived in Columbus, I attended Christ Community Church. It is an amazing church. Jay is the best Worship leader and Pastor Keith really has an amazing gift from God to speak His word and relate it to the people. When I began going there, we read the book The Purpose Driven Life. I highly recommend going through that program if you haven't done so already. It completely changed my life, and is a program you can repeat incessantly. I enjoy reading The Bible (The Message is my favorite!). I am a moderator of a Christian MSN Group called Read The Bible in a Year where you get to do just that.
On February 16, 2002 I married the most wonderful man in the world, David Holt (Dave). He has been so wonderful and I can't wait to grow old with him. We have 2 feline children that think they're human, Josie and Dinia. We also have 3 Bettas, 2 Cherry Barbs, 2 Glolite tetras, a Long-fin red minor tetra, an african dwarf frog, and a countless number of tiny snails.
Update: It is now 2014 and we have 3 feline children! Josie passed away back on August 25, 2011. We still have Dinia, but we now also are the adoptive parents of Clyde Holt, who is actually our feline nephew, and Stormy Holt, who I fell in love with while shopping for Hamster supplies at PetSmart. We no longer have any fish, and we've gone through a few small pets over the years. I wish they lived longer, but we feel we have always given them the best lives. On September 5, 2012 I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy named Casey. He is the joy of my heart and I am so thankful to be his mom!
Another update: We still have Dinia and Stormy. Once we moved to Texas (see below), we had to give Clyde back to his daddy. We recently found out that Dinia has cancer, so we are just trying to enjoy what time we have left with her.
In April of 2006, we moved to Mooresville, NC, otherwise known as "Race City, USA." It is the home of Nascar Technical Institute, where Dave went to school. We are *huge* Nascar fans. I go for Kasey Kahne (in case you haven't noticed), but Dave prefers Carl Edwards or any driver under Roush Racing. I would do anything to meet Kasey... so Kasey, if you ever read this, email me! ;)
In August 2008, we moved to the town Dave grew up in: Moline, IL. We bought a house in February 2009. Once we got had our son, Dave went back into the Reserves, and that eventually led us to a full time opportunity in Houston, TX, where we have lived since July 2014.
Nowadays there are quite a few things I am doing with my life. Most importantly, I am a Stay at Home Mom (SAHM). A few years ago, I launched an advice and support site called Counsel City. I still plan to go back to school, one day, to get a Ph.D. in Psychology. The site hasn't really taken off, but I refuse to part ways with it, as I had my old web design business that also never took off. I am also planning to resume work on the novel, Corsica, that I started way back in December 1995. I've had a writer's block for years, but I refuse to give up on that dream either.
I love to read and write. I publish poetry through the National Library of Poetry. My favorite authors are Shakespeare, V.C. Andrews, and Stephen King. I also tried to launch a small press publications group called Quill and Ink Press from which I published poems, short stories, editorial articles, photographs, sketches, and comics.
I love the Green Bay Packers, but don't watch sports much. I listen to any kind of music. My favorite bands are Bush, 3 Doors Down, Shinedown, and Metallica. I was fortunate enough to see 3 Doors Down and Shinedown in concert November 2005 at the Columbus Civic Center and am dying to see them again. I was even more fortunate to have caught a Shinedown drumstick! I personally believe that the ultimate concert would include all 4 of these marvelous bands. I am, of course, a member of the Official Bush Fan Club. My favorite song is "When You Say Nothing at All" by Alison Krauss (oddly enough, considering it's country).
I used to watch lots of TV... usually on The WB, which happens to have merged with UPN to create a new television network called The CW. I watch/like Charmed, 7th Heaven, Gilmore Girls, One Tree Hill, Smallville, Everwood, What I Like About You, Twins, Reba, Living With Fran, Dawson's Creek, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, and Sabrina. My latest addiction is Without a Trace on TNT.
However, nowadays I mainly watch TV shows over the internet after they've aired on Live TV. My favorites are NCIS, NCIS New Orleans, Criminal Minds, and Downton Abbey.
My favorite movies are Gone With The Wind, Pride and Prejudice, Grease, Pearl Harbour, Harry Potter, Twilight, Hunger Games, Divergent, Cruel Intentions, The Devil's Advocate, Titanic, and many more. It's hard to choose any one favorite.
